Automatic updating from blocklist manager?

First of all, amazing plugin. By itself makes Outpost worth a buy.

While I did find some answers to this, they don't seem to be for the newest version of outpost and this plugin. Here is my scenario. I can setup blocklist manager (BLM) to automatically get, merge and export a text file compatible with blockpost at a certian time (schedule the task). The thing is, I can't figure out how to get this plugin to automatically clear the existing list (to avoid dupes and other such problems) and import the new list automatically. I also need to preserve the process and IP whitelist config so I can't just delete the blockpost config file. Is there a way to do this? I'm Outpost firewall pro 4.0.1024 (don't know why but 1025 doesn't get pulled when I do an update), blockpost plugin (the newest one I can find in this forum) and BLM.

Thanks!

Re: Automatic updating from blocklist manager?

as far as i know, the only way to load the new blocklist other than manually clicking the reload option is to either reboot, or stop the OP service, restart it and reload the gui. op is not happy with allowing other programs to do this for security reasons. you may want to communicate with the blockpost author ,fazion, to see if he can incorporate a timed reload ability.

the lists do not change often enough for me to want to do it on auto myself, running blm then clicking 'reload' once a week is not onerous for me, so i have not persued this myself.

at this point in time you will need to manually d/l & do an update install (or a new install if desired) to get 1025. it has not been put on the auto update system as it is a minor release.

Re: Automatic updating from blocklist manager?

Thanks for the reply! I have a family license so have Outpost installed on a few machines. Manually updating 1 is not too bad but doing all of them every week is a bit more onerous. Oh well, thanks for the help!

Well, I have a suggestion here since I would not mind auto-load attempt once every 10 minutes. If there is no way to check file dates, etc from a plugin (to avoid auto-load when there was no update to the list), you could speed up auto-load by adding a line (as the 2nd line possibly) to the files and look for that line before reload. For example, this line:
#BP_AUTOLOADED
would mean that the file has been already loaded automatically, and there is no need to load it up again...
Any thoughts?
Thanks.
